Beautiful things happen when we work together. The Northampton Shear notions & pencil case is the product of not one, not two, but four local producers and makers!

Wool from two Northamptonshire flocks, the Ashby Shetlands and Astcote Leicester Longwools, was gathered and spun into yarn. Some yarn was handspun, some kept in its natural colour, and some was hand dyed in the RiverKnits Weedon Bec studio before continuing its journey at the Broughs Handwoven studio in Upper Stowe to be handwoven on a natural linen warp and sewn together with a British wool felt backing, natural linen lining, and metal zip.

We came up with 2 colourways: Slate and Moss. The case measures approximately 25cm by 10cm and is the perfect mash-up of Broughs Handwoven's contemporary style and RiverKnits palettes.

Home grown, hand dyed, handwoven, and handmade, all in Northamptonshire, UK. Now ready to house your handmade projects, where it goes next is up to you.

Showtime – Pattern & Kit

It's Showtime! This year's limited edition festive yarn is inspired by that great British Christmas tradition of going to the Pantomime - oh yes it is! It has been so much fun creating this set. If you look closely, you will see each mini shares some colours with its neighbours, so it works nicely as a gradient.

We didn't stop with these fabulous magically marled Chimera minis... (oh no we didn't!) We also have 2 patterns to go with it: the Showtime Cowl in knit or crochet. All credit due to Fay Dashper-Hughes for the crochet version.

Luminous Flux Hat – Pattern & Kit

Luminous Flux is the measure of the perceived level of light. With this high-vis hat, you will certainly be easily perceived! The bold graphic look is created with a textured colourwork technique that is half stranded knitting and half knit-purl patterning. Choose your style and knit either a slouchy hat or a beanie.

The hat has been designed to use our woollen spun Severn (Jacob wool) yarn. If choosing your own colours, try to select a light, medium, and dark shade to ensure that each one has enough contrast against the others.

Singing Stones are one of nature’s curiosities. These musical rocks are formed from molten lava that is subject to stresses and strains as it cools. The internal tension increases the rocks’ ability to transmit vibrations - music! The dancing rhythm of the mosaic pattern teamed with the multi-coloured marled yarn makes me think of music, hence, Singing Stones.

These fingerless mittens have been designed to work with our magically marled Chimera yarn and a complementing solid. The mosaic pattern is charted and very simple to follow. The colourwork is created by slipping stitches. What could be easier?!
