    The Cut is an old boating term for the canal, because it is cut (or dug) into the landscape. So "on the cut" means cruising on the canal, and the colours are reflected in this yarn. Sky blue, white fluffy clouds, and the green-brown sliver of the water. Although quite highly variegated, the colours are light and will allow textured patterns to shine through while lending visual interest to simple ones.
