Description
These 20g mini skeins pack a lot of fun and colour into a small amount of yarn! They are perfect for colourwork of all kinds, stripes, gradient and fade projects. They’re also great if you only need a small amount of yarn, such as for a toy, or the toes and heels of a pair of socks.
Like their Nene 4 Ply counterpart, the yarn is smooth, worsted-spun and plied, with a lot of lustre and great bounce! The Bluefaced Leicester breed produces wool that is strong and still manages to be next-to-skin soft, making it ideal for a wide range of projects. This yarn will work fantastically in hats, mittens, jumpers, and shawls. It’s also hardwearing enough for socks, especially when knitted at a tight gauge. It wears well over time and pills very little. The stitch definition is excellent, making it suitable for beautiful stocking stitch, textured knit-purl patterns or brioche, lace, colourwork, and well-defined cables.
We hand dye all our yarn in our studio in the Royal Ordnance Depot, Weedon, by the Grand Union Canal. Our yarn has been hand dyed in small batches, and the colour consistency between batches is very good but can’t be guaranteed, so we recommend that you buy enough skeins for your project. If your project uses more than one skein, we also recommend that you alternate / stripe the skeins throughout.
Please note that although all our photographs have been taken in daylight conditions with a digital SLR camera, computer monitors and other colour screen displays vary widely, so the colours may appear differently in real life to how they do on screen.
Caring for your yarn:
When it comes to blocking or washing your project, use lukewarm water with your favourite wool wash, and lay flat to dry. We take great care to thoroughly set the dye and rinse the yarn afterwards, but differing water temperatures and chemicals can cause some dye to bleed. If you’re using it in a multicoloured project, we recommend washing a swatch first to test for colour-fastness.
