The Scottish Rainbow Blanket was inspired by the colours of Scotland and designed by Fay Dashper-Hughes. It is made using the intarsia knitting method and it’s all done in garter stitch to make a squidgy, warm blanket. Easy row repeats make it a great first intarsia knitting project.

There is a sister crochet design called Stormy Rainbow.

Description

There is a sister crochet design called Stormy Rainbow.

Yarn

12 mini skeins of Nene 4 Ply in a “stormy” or “Scottish” rainbow or 6 skeins of Chimera in a fade

3 skeins of Nene 4 Ply for the background colour (optional)

Gauge

22.5 sts and 50 rows over 10cm/4″ (unblocked). 22 sts and 46 rows over 10cm/4″ (blocked).

It is important to get gauge. If you don’t, you risk running out of yarn in the final contrast colour rows of the blanket. Use MC for a tension/gauge swatch.

You Will Need

Needles: 3.5mm circular needle with 80cm cable, or size required to obtain gauge.

3 stitch markers

Darning needle

Blocking equipment

unfortunately the pattern is too complicated for me with the Intarsia method
